Self-confidence is not a feeling of superiority, but of independence.
We have to understand the middle path: that a human has a positive and a negative side.
We have a false, ignorant side, but we also have a beautiful potential.
- Buddha nature.
PeaceIn the midst of our full lives, may we pause…
Seeking the peace that always rests within…
However busy, however hard our days…
that peace always rests within.
So may we pause… and find that peace… that deep peace…
that renewing peace….
Pause, and know the peace of our hearts…
The peace of this place and this gathering…
The peace of the falling snow…
Peace…
May we cultivate peace in our hearts, that we might find more peace in our lives;
may we cultivate peace in our lives, that we might find more peace among our family and
friends;
may we cultivate peace among our family and friends, that we might find more peace in
our communities;
may we cultivate peace in our communities and our nation, that we might find more
peace in the world.
And so – may we be among those who don’t give up, who instead give life each day,
whether in ways small or large, to the ancient quest for peace.
Eternal peace? Probably not.
More peace? Why not?
So may it be.
ThankfulLet us rise up and be thankful, for if we didn't learn a lot today, at least we learned a little, and if we didn't learn a little, at least we didn't get sick, and if we got sick, at least we didn't die; so, let us all be thankful.
We can think of so many things in our lives that we are lucky to have or lucky to experience. So,when we find ourselves thinking unhappy thoughts about what we don’t have, we can remember to be thankful for what we do have, even the little things.
Accepting InsultsOnce an angry man insulted the Buddha. The Buddha simply asked the man if people ever visited him in his home. Surprised at the change of topic, the man answered yes. The Buddha then asked if his visitors ever brought gifts. When the man replied yes again, the Buddha asked what would happen if he refused to accept the gifts? Who would the gifts belong to then? The man said that, of course, they would still belong to those who brought them. The Buddha then calmly and kindly said, “In the same way, since I do not accept your insults, they remain with you.
How can we learn not to get angry when someone insults us? We can remember
that an insult is only what that person thinks because of his own ignorance,
jealousy, anger or ill will. We should not allow that person’s insult to bring us
down to his level of anger and ill will. We can remember that we are good and
they can’t bring us down. We improve ourselves, we become stronger in our good
character, if we can ignore insults, resist the urge to fight back, and avoid bad
feelings. So the person insulting us is actually helping us to become better!
Do not accept any of my words on faith,
believing them just because I said them.
Be like an analyst buying gold, who cuts, burns,
and critically examines his product for authenticity.
Only accept what passes the test
by proving useful and beneficial in your life.-- Lord Buddha, shortly before his death

I guess...

So who needs a girlfriend anyway ?
That's the conclusion I came today.
It's not so bad being just one
Actually, it can be quite fun.
Hanging out in the basketball court all day,
Appreciating my friends in a new special way.
Never having to worry about her,
Whether she will be with who.
What should i do for her,
is no longer an issue.
Goin where i want, seeing who i please
even though i miss having someone to talk with.
Three-hours of thinking how to please her,
become three-hours playing trips with friends.
Being alone can be rough at first
But it only gets better, it doesn't get worse.
Soon enough i will love once more
But for now, it is myself I should adore.
Look at everyday with a new brighter light
And I'm sure, in time i will be alright.
A true friend is someone who thinks that you are a good egg even though he knows that you are slightly cracked.
